Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag on Monday convened an emergency meeting to investigate alleged violations of institutional discipline by some students, according to an official notice issued by the college administration.
The directive, issued by the office of the Principal and Dean under reference number GMCA/PD/RA/2026/903-905, said the meeting would address recent “incidents of violation of college norms by few students of this institute.”
According to the notice, the inquiry would also examine “an ongoing breach of prior behavioral protocols.”
The administration said the meeting was being held in connection with an alleged violation of “point 5” of an earlier office order dated August 25, 2025.
The notice directed senior faculty and administrative officials to attend the proceedings, scheduled for May 18 at 2 pm under the chairpersonship of the principal at the college campus.
Those asked to attend included Mehak Mufti, associate professor and head of the Department of Physiology, and Muqbil Latief Hussain, administrative officer of the college.
The administration also summoned two undergraduate medical students to appear before the authorities.
The development followed the circulation of a viral social media video in which allegations were made against campus authorities over alleged favouritism and discrimination involving junior medical staff.
The college administration did not publicly comment on the allegations in the notice, which focused on internal disciplinary and regulatory matters.
