Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday invited educational institutions to invest in the region’s higher education sector, citing new policy reforms aimed at building a competitive academic ecosystem.

Speaking to a delegation of education sector representatives in Bengaluru, Abdullah highlighted opportunities created by the recently enacted J&K Private University law, which allows reputed institutions to establish campuses in the region.

He said the framework was designed to position Jammu and Kashmir as a modern and inclusive academic hub capable of attracting students, scholars and research collaborations from across India and abroad.

“The government is committed to providing a transparent and investor-friendly environment for quality institutions,” Abdullah said, urging stakeholders to partner in shaping the region’s academic future.

The legislation, passed by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly during its recent budget session and approved by the Lieutenant Governor, has been described by officials as a key step in expanding higher education infrastructure.

Senior officials, including adviser Nasir Aslam Wani and legislator Tanvir Sadiq, attended the meeting along with representatives from the education sector.
