Chief Minister Omar Abdullah approved the construction of a multi-level car parking facility in Ganderbal at a cost of Rs 9.60 crore, officials said.
The project, cleared under the 2026-27 capital expenditure budget, aims to ease rising traffic congestion and improve urban infrastructure in the rapidly growing town.
The facility will be implemented by the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir, in line with approved technical standards and procedures, the government said.
Authorities expect the project to help decongest busy market areas by providing organised parking space and improving traffic management.
CM Omar directed officials to ensure strict quality control, transparent tendering and timely execution, while obtaining all necessary regulatory clearances before work begins.
