Residents of a town in central Kashmir have voiced frustration over long-neglected roads, saying years of official inaction have left key routes riddled with potholes and prone to waterlogging.

People in Tulmulla in Ganderbal district say deteriorating link roads have made daily travel difficult for both pedestrians and motorists, particularly in densely populated neighbourhoods.

Locals said the roads have remained in poor condition for years, despite repeated appeals to authorities for repairs or resurfacing.

“The roads are full of deep potholes, making it extremely difficult to move around,” said Javed Ahmad, a resident.

Others echoed the concern, saying the situation has persisted without any visible intervention from government agencies.

Residents said the problem worsens during rainy periods, when water accumulates in damaged stretches, at times rendering roads impassable.

They said that elderly residents and schoolchildren are among the worst affected, struggling to commute for daily activities.

Calls for blacktopping and proper drainage have gone unanswered, according to residents, who urged authorities to take immediate steps to improve road conditions and ease daily hardships.
