GoC-in-C Northern Command reviews J&K security

Stresses vigilance, operational synergy during Basantgarh visit

General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Northern Command on Wednesday reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district, calling for sustained vigilance and closer coordination among security agencies to maintain pressure on militant groups.

GOC-in-C Northern Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, visited Basantgarh to assess operational preparedness and review the prevailing security environment with field commanders, the Army said.

Discussions focused on the evolving security situation, measures to strengthen surveillance and operational readiness, and coordination among agencies involved in counter-insurgency operations.

“The Army Commander underscored the importance of sustained alertness and synergy with all stakeholders for retaining the decisive edge over inimical elements,” Northern Command said in a statement on X.

The visit reaffirmed the Army’s emphasis on maintaining high operational readiness amid continuing security operations in parts of J&K.

Northern Command said Sharma also commended troops for their professionalism and dedication while reiterating the Army’s commitment to safeguarding the region’s security.
