The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh has nominated 10 women judicial officers to participate in a major legal awareness programme aimed at promoting women’s empowerment and strengthening institutional legal support systems, according to an official order.
The programme, ‘Empowering Women and Strengthening Institutional Legal Support,’ is scheduled to be held at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar on June 20.
The order, issued by Registrar General M K Sharma, assigns judicial officers various responsibilities during the event, including participation, coordination, and public engagement.
Senior judicial officers from Kashmir and Jammu divisions have also been nominated, while Preet Simran Kour, Fourth Additional District and Sessions Judge, Srinagar, will serve as the programme’s anchor.
The initiative is expected to bring together judicial officers, legal services institutions and other stakeholders to enhance legal awareness among women and strengthen access to institutional support mechanisms.
Officials said the programme forms part of broader efforts to improve legal literacy and expand outreach initiatives focused on women’s rights, access to justice and legal empowerment across the region.
