Students and staff of Foundation World School planted saplings to make their surroundings green as the school celebrated Environment Day on March 27.
The school authorities motivated students and parents to recycle, reuse and reduce, and highlighted the importance of looking after the environment in order to make earth a better place to live.
“By this event, FWS sensitized parents and children in order to wake up on the condition of earth, before it is too late,” Dean FWS Yasmine Ben m'lah said.
To mark the day, the school organized workshops on recycling paper, paper machie, making photo frames out of magazine, lights made out of waste, pottery and painting, baskets out of newspapers and other fun activities.
To add more color to the day a beautiful vertical garden was created.
Elaborating on the need for environmental protection, Ben m'lah said, “In the rapid changing world that we live in, we believe that the protection and the preservation of the environment are prerequisites for the survival of mankind.”
“As we go on we should remember that we do not inherit the earth from our parents, we borrow it from our children,” she added.
Parents present at the function also appreciated the school for raising environment awareness. “Kashmir was in need of such visionary school,” said Nadiya, a parent.
