Most of us eat at least one meal at the workplace or at school, and that is usually the lunch carried from home. Deciding what to put in the lunchbox can be quite a task. Firstly, it should taste good. Then it should also contain requisite nutrients like proteins, fats and carbohydrates. A packed lunch should also be filling to prevent bingeing at snack time.

BHSS Batmaloo wins inter school quiz

More than 50 teams participated in an Inter-School quiz organized by the Directorate of School Education in association with North Zone Culture Centre, GoI, in which .

BHSS Batmaloo won the competition, with BHSS Hazratbal a close runner up. The second runner up was GHSS Amirakadal. GHSS Nowhatta, GHSS Khanyar and second team of GHSS Amirakadal were other finalists.

Heritage walk in the city

Some 100 students from various government schools participated in a Heritage Walk organized by M P Higher Secondary School, and College of Education, Srinagar.

Students carrying placards visited places of historical and religious importance like Naqashband Sahab, Jama Masjid and Koh-i-Maran fort (HariParbhat).  Dr Shafiq Ahmad Shafai, teacher, narrated the importance of each place to the students.

Entrepreneurial excursion in South Kashmir

Commerce Students of various schools of Anantnag and Kulgam were taken to Bamdoora High Density Model Orchard for an entrepreneurial excursion on May 7.

The excursion gave the students an opportunity to see how a farmer entrepreneur, Mir Khurram, had built his business on a new idea in horticulture sector. Minister of Education Naeem Akhtar and Director Education Shah Faesal accompanied the students.The innovative excursion stimulated the entrepreneurial spirit of students, providing them inspiration for their own business projects.

Delhi-Srinagar Classroom interaction held

A first of its kind interactive programme, for English subject, was conducted between students of GHSS Rajbagh and Vasant Vihar School New Delhi.

The faculty and students of the two schools were glad with the programme, with the Vasant Vihar School hoping to have more such programmes with other schools in Kashmir.

Workshop on Kashmir story telling

Students from different schools engaged in story telling exercises to enrich their creative skills at a workshop at

Green Valley Educational Institute, Srinagar, organized by the school in collaboration with Youth for Kashmir (YFK).

At the workshop, special guest Mirwaiz Umar Farooq emphasized on the role of Kashmiri language in preserving the culture and traditions of the Valley, besides giving it its identity.

Renowned Kashmiri poet and satirist Zareef Ahmed Zareef Sahib was the guest of honour at the workshop.
